Contact a Family provides support, advice and information for families with disabled children, no matter what their condition or disability.

Our vision is that all families with disabled children are empowered to live the lives they choose to live, and achieve their full potential, for themselves, for the communities they live in and for society.

Our mission and purpose is to remove the barriers imposed by society which prevent families with disabled children achieving their full potential, and to empower these families to live the lives they want to lead.

Last year, we helped over 300,000 families with disabled children.

Frontline is one of my favourite shows on television. I hope it continues for a long time to come. Looking forward to watching the Hugo Chavez Show.

My little sister is hooked on the News Hour, and no one knows why because she doesn't understand half of it, but she's on a first-name basis with "Jim!"

PBS: like the history channel, but good
by Rachael at 1:51pm on November 2nd, 2008
About two years ago, the history channel started sucking. There is really no better way to put it. Presumably sick of all the "Hitler Channel" jokes, they took away all our wonderful WWII documentaries and replaced them with...computer-animated dinosaur fights. They have also deviated from their format by doing a lot of shows based on conjecture rather than fact (Monster Quest, all those irritating shows about doomsday scenarios.) Worse yet, most of their programming is not about historical events at all, but rather random all-male-focus-group crap like Alaskan truckers and comic book collecting. I concede that The Universe is interesting enough, but Nova is better.

So, now PBS is my only television source of Egyptology, Biblical history for smart people, renaissance anything, poignant Holocaust stories, and balanced coverage of political scandals that happened before I was born. It's eerie how well PBS avoids destruction by focus groups.

PBS Reigns over every station!
by Laura at 12:49am on September 14th, 2008
PBS is by far, as Josh Groban quoted in his 2004 PBS interview, the most intelligent programming around. I grew up watching PBS - I watched Arthur, Seame Street, Mister Rodgers, Dragon Tales. I love the Great Performances specials and Nature. PBS is the honest and best station! Long live PBS :)
Absolument fantastique!

Hurrah for public broadcasting! I do not care to watch most of the shows on the telly these days except the ones featured on PBS. My absolute favourite would be the Masterpiece Theater, documentaries, concerts and of course, the classic films! Très, très cool! Merci, PBS! :-D
