About Me:
When I am President of the United States, gays and lesbians will have somebody who will fight for equal rights for them, somebody who opposes Don't Ask, Don't Tell, somebody who's fought to make sure that gays and lesbians aren't discriminated against on the job or hospital visitation. Because they are our brothers and sisters, and I don't mind anyone knowing where I stand.

For too long, issues of LGBT rights have been exploited by those seeking to divide us. It's time to move beyond polarization and live up to our founding promise of equality by treating all our citizens with dignity and respect. This is no less than a core issue about who we are as Democrats and Americans.

"With the challenges and crises we face right now, we cannot afford to divide this country by race or class or region; by who we are or what policies we support. There are no real parts of the country and fake parts of the country.

This Presidential Election had proved that all things are possible... I NEVER imagined that an African-American would ever be elected as Commander and Chief of The United States... What a glorious victory for Mr. Obama and the African-American community.... I fully understood and respected the comment Mrs. Obama offered when she said she was finally proud to be an American... It was a legitimate, TRUE claim...

It is ironic, and certainly appropriate, that the President-elect and his family will reside in the House that former African slaves assisted in constructing... The Human Spirit is a phenomenon that is rarely destroyed... It can be suppressed for only so long, but will prevail in the end...

It is my wish and desire that one day we as humans will live in a color blind world... A world where color is contemplated only on the palette of an artist... A world where a man is deemed equal, without the bigotry and arrogance of color... A world of Love and Respect for all humans...

Barack, please fight for us, by repealing DOMA, don't ask don't tell, sodomy laws in the military, and other unfair measures against LGBT. Prop 8 clearly shows that we are heading in the wrong direction. We want to change that, and we see you as an agent to bring a fundamental change in this country. We know our top priorities are economy, and national security, but JFK also supported the civil rights movement even though he knew he would lose southern democrat votes. We voted for you because we believe you were the candidate who truly stands for equal rights, Don't let us down, we can't afford to have four more years of the same old anti-LGBT policy that we had for the past eight years. We ar protest all across California by chanting three words of hope: Yes We Can! the words which you inspired us with, which embodies American dream and American promise. And let us keep that promise, that America will always march ahead. You are our last hope in America.

I truly hope this email makes it to your desk.
Because of you I have gotten a much stronger understanding of it. I believe you are truly a great person that wants and can lead our country to real greatness. But I need your help in understanding how something like this "Proposition 8" could even happen.
The United States bills it self as a diverse country for freedom and equality, but why we ever need to vote to decide if some Americans should get the rights that everyone else gets. This "Proposition 8" is such a move backwards in civil rights. It would be like voting to decide if people should have the right to marry outside their race, or vote on deciding if the elderly should be allowed to marry after a certain age.
Correct me if I am wrong. But this is really motivated my some extreme religious opinions, and if so why would we force any American to live by someone else's religious opinions?
