NOW PERFORMING

The Playboy of the Western World

by J.M. Synge

directed by Prof. Philip Beck

Set in Michael James Flaherty’s public house on the west coast of Ireland during the early 1900s, this Irish play tells the story of Christy Mahon, a young man running away from his farm, claiming he killed his father. The locals are more interested in vicariously enjoying his story than in condemning the morality of his murderous deed. He captures the romantic attention of the bar-maid Pegeen Mike, the daughter of Flaherty.

Tickets available at Ticketmaster.com or 304-293-SHOW.

Students with an interest in theatre may choose from several different areas of emphasis, each providing a well-rounded knowledge of the art form as well as an opportunity to specialize.

As of 2pm EST 8/8/08, the Division's new web site is live at: theatre.wvu.edu! Check it out!

There is still much editing to finish, photos to upload, and typos to correct so be patient over the next few weeks while we get this done.

NEW WEB SITE:
----------------------
The Division of Theatre and Dance's web site (theatre.wvu.edu) is looking terribly out-of-date and tired. The College of Creative Arts has a new web site for the College and the three divisions redesigned from the ground up.

The new web site will go live in a matter of weeks we hope, pending some hardware and software upgrades within WVU's Web Services. We will post an announcement here once it's ready to go live.
