As a result of a joint effort between the Google.org and Google Earth Outreach teams, the new Geo Challenge Grants offers US$5,000 - US$100,000 grants to non-profits in order to help them map the work that they do.

As Hurricane Gustav makes landfall near New Orleans, LA, you can track it's progress in Google Earth by turning on the "Hurricane Gustav" layer inside the "Weather layer".

Trading Bows and Arrows for Laptops
Chief Almir Surui asked Google Earth Outreach to train indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest on Google Earth and other internet tools. The Surui will use the internet to preserve their culture for future generations and spread awareness about illegal logging on Indian territory.
