The B-School InterviewGetting StartedAs you approach the interview process, start by looking at what role each school expects the interview to play. A school may request that all candidates interview on campus because they really want to gauge the applicant’s fit with their community.

Elissa thanks for help. I will take a look at the website. I need all the help I can get since the MBA marketing world is new to me.

Ha'Londra, I'm not sure if University of Phoenix offers connections to alumni or other types of career services, but that would be the first place I would start--at the institution where you studied. It's great to connect with other alumni who are pursuing marketing careers and ask them questions about their career path. Perhaps if they are in the Los Angeles area they could meet with you for an informational interview.

Another idea is to find people who work in consumer brand management--perhaps through your friends and family network? You might also consider searching the Forte women's leader database on our Power Tools page.

Hi. I'm planning to apply to Chicago GSB next year. Does anybody have contacts of people who study there or who recently graduated? Thank you!

Hi I'm currently attending the University of Phoenix working on my MBA and I work in the legal profession. Can anyone give me pointers or contacts that will help me transition in the Marketing world. The goal is ultimately to go into a consumer brand management rotation. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Interesting question, Francesca. I think generally we're hearing concern from women applying that the competition might be tighter for seats in MBA programs because of the increase in applications these lay-offs might stimulate.

Of course, the MBA is not just about jobs on Wall Street; in fact, it can be a great springboard into other industries for those who might be looking to change careers.

We've seen a 15-20% jump in our MBA Forum registration and attendance, which hints that young women still perceive value in the MBA.

In the present economy it's important for everyone to be proactive about developing new skills, updating their resume, and building or extending their networks. And the MBA is a great way to do this.
