21st July Course
by Ian at 2:04am on July 23rd, 2008
I was looking forward to the course, after reading peoples reviews of Stewart's course's and I have to admit it was GREAT.
The course was in a great location, great weather, great people and an excellent teacher. Stewart has a passion and can bring that to the table when he is teaching.
The course material is a wonderful reference and the terms used and graphical illustrations are great. It gives you a great handle on what's going on when you take a picture. The digital workflow was also a great help. I now have to get my head down and start taking picture's.
Once again thank you Stewart (;O)
excellent course!

I was really impressed with this course (23-24 June)
Stewart is an excellent teacher - clear in describing things; with clever ways of putting across technical concepts in his presentation and in the excellent supporting handouts. Technical stuff can be tedious - but of course is essential to understand and the best way to learn is from someone who actually enjoys the technical stuff like Stewart ! And so can make it fun.
Also Stewart 's passion for photography really comes through - he seems to enjoys the course as much has the delegates; if not more.
If you want to understand how it all works and how to get the best out of your camera; are a beginner or need a refresher, and would appreciate the opportunity to throw out any questions, and get an answer! - then this is the course for you!
Cheers
Frances

I was on the course 23/24th June, it was fantastic. I really enjoyed it and learnt lots of new things..the green automatic option will never be used again!|! I recommend this course to everyone, those starting out, as a refresher or those who just dont understand certain aspects of their camers or photography including shutter speeds, ISO, apertures!!

The language and style Stewart uses for the course is great, really easy to understand. The course handouts are also great to use during the two days but fantastic to refer back to afterwards.

Thanks again Stewart, cant wait to hear more about your follow up course.

I was passionate about photography before i did this course...now i cant wait to put theory into practice and become totally addicted!

I have just taken the course on the 23rd and 24th of June, and all I can really say is Stewart is a great teacher. If you are starting up in photography in whatever field Stewart will help get the best out of your camera instead of taking pictures in automatic mode. He will also go into detail on each of the features and what they do and how you can use them in the field to get the best out you DSLR. It was very easy to understand and follow. Also Bagden hall where the venue was held is a excellent choice for taking photos.

There where 8 of us on the course and I sure all of them would agree with me that Stewart has a passion for this and he does it very well, we all came out knowing a hell of a lot more than when we start. In fact I wanted to stay longer and learn more!!!!!

Thank you Stewart once again I have not only came out knowing more about my camera but I have came out with more ideas, for future photography project. I give the course 12 out of 10.

Ps Im looking forward to when you start a course for the next level!!!!
Digital Photography for beginners
by David at 10:35am on March 31st, 2008
I attended one of Stewart's courses early this year. I'd had my SLR for about a year and was still using the idiot function (green mode), which thankfully never gets used any more :)
The course was very well organised and was a good balance of theory and practical shoots. Stuart gave us plenty of easy to remember practical tips which are also in the accompanying notes, which iv referred back to a few times.

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who either wanted a refresher or a complete starter. Stewart has a passion for what he does and it shows. I look forward to attending another one of his courses in the future

p.s Stewart also helped me pick out a few bit of equipment out when I bumped into him at the focus convention in Birmingham. Thanks for the after sales Stewart lol

Hello everyone!

I completely agree with Susie, I attended one of the courses last year and it was excellent.

As someone who used an SLR camera in my younger years I'd grown rusty and lazy using a compact camera for most of my pictures but having bought a new digital SLR I thought it was about time I got back to thinking about my photos and remembering some of the rules about what works/doesn't work.

Stewart's course was a fantastic way to refresh my memory of the fundamentals of photography, give a few handy hints and tips that over a year later are still standing the test of time, plus give a good practical introduction to things of a digital nature like the histogram - the things that having a little knowledge about can add so much value to your photos.

If technical information and slides aren't your thing don't worry, there's plenty of opportunity to take photos and put some of the theory into practice, I'm sure Stewart will share some of his shots as inspiration and after each shoot or in the evening there's an opportunity to share each other's photos so everyone can learn from each other.

With the course content and a reason to spend some quality time with and learning your camera, it's great value; and with the 2008 pricing it's a complete steal - book today!
Stewart's photography course

I attended one of Stewart's very first courses last year. I'd been given a digital SLR for my birthday (yes it was a significant birthday thanks for asking) and although I'd enjoyed using an SLR 20 years ago things have somewhat moved on and I didn't really know what to do with it.
The course was well organised and was a good balance of theory so that you can understand what the camera is doing and how you can get the most from it, and practical shoots to try out what you've learned. The accompanying notes were helpful and I still refer to them now. It was perfect for someone like me for whom the technical information is a bit overwhelming but who appreciates the creative side of photography. Equally though there were people there who had far more grasp of the 'stops and shutter speeds' but needed help with ideas and composition.
With Stewart's help and encouragement I'm now a very keen (very amateur) photographer and am eagerly waiting for him to start 'refresher' courses so I can move on a little bit more... and spend a couple of very pleasant days in the countryside.
