the director got the ideaof this movie from a girl who came 2 his door asking for someone who doesn't live there, also because of the murders of kirsten and james

i agree with all of u. The director really tried to pull away from the pointless gore movies that were infecting our horror movie society. This movie is straight up creepy and every thing that happens could happen thats what makes it so good.

It was good but felt incomplete

Well, this isn't a movie for horror lovers who liked movies such as Nightmare on Elm Street, the Friday the 13th movies or the Halloween series. Because this in a sense is not really a horror movie with unbelievable blood sheds, the point of this film was to shed a sense of terror. I can't really say any of the acting was excellent because frankly there isn't much acting to grade upon.

The Strangers is very briefly based off of the Keddie Murders that occurred in 1981, it wasn't a man and woman who ended up having an awkward night after a proposal and a friend who later came. It was a murder on a mother, her son and the son's friend. But I don't think this movie was really trying to bring that event to life, because what I got out of this was a message to the viewers that some people are really actually messed up. Now everyone kept telling me that the ending sucked, but I found the end to be refreshing in the sense that for once we, as the viewer, don't actually get a reason for the massacre and in that we come to realize that some people in this world are so messed up that there could be a number of reasons they did it.

But what was really great about this piece is that the makers decided to make the movie without any of the suspenseful background music and left everything to the silence which actually added a great creepy effect to the movie and really brings the viewer to a more real point of view, so for that I think this movie is worth watching.
Scary stuff...

I thought this movie was one of the best horror films I've ever seen. It super creepy and very intense. I was reading some of the other posts people wrote and some questioned the reason for the movie or said how they thought the reason that Dollface said "because you were home" was not a good reason for a terrifying movie...but really, the point of the movie was to terrify others who are interested in scary movies and the movie was based on REAL, TRUE events. It just goes to show how crazy some people really are in this world if events this terrifying could happen in real life....but that is only an opinion!
Great Movie

Firstly:
Re - the scene where Liv Tyler asks Dollface "Why are you doing this to us?"
Dollface replies "Because YOU WERE home"

Hope this clears up any confusion LOL!

Great movie, more about the suspense than the gore. I dont see that a horror film needs a storyline as such?? Its just about showing a situation that the audience find believeable and scary??
One of the best horror movies

The first time I saw this movie it freaked the hell out of me. I like that it was mostly supence then gore, I respect that kind of horror movie. I can not believe this happened.
Thank You Nicole Knight!

ABSOLUTELY DEVOID OF NARRATIVE....a slasher disguised as psych-horror.....not awful....just disappointing
Holy shit!

This movie literally scared me to death. I hate suspensful movies and this one was ALL suspense! Liv Tyler did a great job on her first scary movie... I just wish it would have ended better than it did.
Good movie but implausible

How to survive The Strangers:

1. When people knock at your door at 4 AM ... DON'T ANSWER THE DOOR

2. Don't call your friends to come pick you up in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere.

3. Don't ditch your AWESOME idea of sitting in one room with a rifle and waiting it out. Don't move around, find yourself a corner and barricade yourself.

4. Always have a backup cell-phone with service.

How to survive The Strangers and walk away healthy.
hard to believe these things actually happen:S
